Uhuru Vintage Photoshoot

Hey loves!

How are you beautiful, intelligent, phenomenal women of God doing this day? I hope you all are living to your fullest potential, being optimistic and chasing after LIMITLESS living as Mela and I do the same!

Girls, you wont believe that I actually got in front of a camera last month and was called a model!
(You all know that I am very camera shy, and I prefer to be behind it, than in front of it..)

Last month I connected with the amazing Nyisha Moncrease, Director of the Marcus Garvey Upliftment Project (MGUP) in Oakland (who will later be featured in our "Naturals Spotted" section) when she asked me to model for her clothing line Uhuru Vintage (all proceeds from the sales of the clothing go to MGUP). MGUP is an arts and education center run by interns. The mission is to provide programs, free of charge, to instill the necessary elements for success within African children of Oakland. Through fine arts and academics, they strives to ENRICH the community with a positive outlet that becomes a safe haven for tomorrow's leaders. THEY ARE AMAZING! I was blown away when I read about Nyisha and MGUP on Facebook. I knew I had to rub elbows with her!

So, the day came for me to model for the Uhuru Vintage clothing, and I was so excited! I had never ever done anything like this before.
MGUP Summer Program for children in Oakland
Long story short, I was so ecstatic to receive the opportunity to work with such talented, inspirational and more importantly PASSIONATE individuals working towards change and positivity for the children of Oakland.

I was so excited to model beautiful vintage, African inspired pieces, while also showcasing Afrikan beauty in a way that is not often  shown.

I was oh so excited to model with natural hair divas, beautiful african goddesses, plus sized models, curvy ladies and so much  more.

The ladies of Uhuru were MOST concerned with the models reflecting the look of real women...real Afrikan women...I was more than overjoyed to be apart of something amazing as such!

Shout out to them! The ladies of Uhuru and MGUP truly represent what it means to live LIMITLESS, and I was honored to work with individuals who make it their mission to teach the children of Oakland how to live as such! Praise YAHWEH for them.

So, enjoy the pictures below, and of course, give me post comments, questions and feedback below! I'd love to hear from you all!
