YES....We're Back!

Hello Lovelies!

After 5 month hiatus, we are happy to say that Limitless is back!

We want to take this time to thank our followers and subscribers for all the much needed support, concern and heart-felt words while we were gone! There have been a few bumps in the road, but we made it through! We must not forget to apologize to you all for leaving you so abruptly, without warning.

The good news is, however, we got much done while we were gone, and we have some new ideas and topics to bring to the table.

Most of you all know that I am half way through my 1 Year Natural Hair Journey, and my girl Mela has left Cali to pursue her goals in Raw Food Living by interning at Creative Health Institute in Michigan! (Side Note: IM SO FRIGGIN' PROUD OF HER! You can check out her videos on YouTube under Mela Monet)
So by popular demand, we'd like to add these pieces of our life to the Limitless blog: Natural hair/Natural Hair Care and Raw Food Living! We are positive that it will turn out great!

As we are both Natural Divas, and both Raw foodies (Mela being 100% Raw, so expect more from her on this topic), we will both be contributing to these new pieces of Limitless, so remember to continue to check here for more videos, posts and discussions relating to these new topics!

Again, We are so happy to be back and can't wait to continue to share, learn, love and live limitlessly with you all!

Our Weekend Away

(Mela)
This past weekend, I bought a Honda Element and we were both totally overjoyed! I had been looking for a large and dependable car for myself and for our Limitless Treasures portion of Limitless (we needed something with a big trunk so we could hall our pieces that we refurbish).
Mela's  Cute Honda Element! Im so excited for her!

(Sade)
My girl tends to have a enough excitement for the both of us, so after only a few minutes of riding around in her new whip, she had a Bobby Brown look in her eyes! I knew something was up in that eager little head of hers!

"Let's go on a road trip. I just want to drive!"

"Mela Seriously? You want to go on a road trip? Like, right now? *thinking, pondering, thinking* You know what, lets just do it! Wait.....where are we going?"

After New Hampshire, Las Vegas, Seattle and Portland where all considered then thrown out, we figured it would be much wiser and budget friendly (yet still spontaneous) to drive around the Bay Area, and let the city  be our guide. We decided wherever we ended up, we would stay the night, buy our necessities in the morning (because we totally did not pack for this spontaneous trip) and take in the sites of that city!

So we got on the road, and did just that.

Our mini journey began in San Leandro near my home, and from there made our way to the City of San Francisco of course. Site seeing in San Francisco is always fun and interesting, even for residents of the Bay Area like ourselves. You can easily feel like a tourist, even if you live here, since there is so much to see.

San Francisco Pier- forgive the picture quality we were driving

She (Mela) drove her Element through the San Francisco hills, past downtown, and over by the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, through Twin Peaks, Chinatown and then toward the Pier.
The city is so beautiful. We drove around these gorgeous sites for about an hour, and then headed back to the freeway.

Eventually we ended up on the 101 towards Half Moon Bay. The road to Half Moon Bay was pretty scary...it was dark, narrow, deserted, is easily discouraging and could cause you to turn back around and go home. However, the spontaneous spirits in both us kept going, we were too excited to see where we would end up. We continued to let the music play in the background, chat and drive.

That lead us to Highway 1, which was also pretty scary, but was a road Mela had desired to drive forever. (Keep in mind it is about 10pm at this time, so it's extremely dark).

Highway 1 lead back to the city, and from there we crossed the lovely Golden Gate Bridge and entered a city that we adore, Tiburon/Belvedere. Even at night, it was so beautiful.
Tiburon at Night

Tiburon on Sept 11, 2010( we went for a wedding a while back)

Once we headed to Tiburon, we drove around in took in the sites of the quaint little town, and remembered the wedding we attended there a while back for a coworker of mine. It was a lovely day.

SO....I bet you all are wondering where the heck we ended our mini journey in the Element...?

(Mela)
Ok I'll give you a few hints:
1) People retire here!
2) On season 6 of Sex and the City (Sade's favorite show) "Big" moved here!
3) The wine is absolutely fabulous!

The beautiful.....?

Banana Blossom Thai Restaurant

Over the past weekend, my girl Mela and I cashed in our Groupon purchase for Banana Blossom Thai Restaurant, located in the up and coming Glenview District of Oakland. The area is so cute, not too busy but definitely not dull, and its perfectly situated next to plenty different cafes, boutique shops and other interesting "open late" restaurants in the area.

Our Groupon was $12 and we were able to redeem it for $25 worth of food! Steal!

We started with appetizers, which were amazing. I (Sade) ordered the Shrimp Rolls and Mela ordered the Angel Wings...we were extremely satisfied with both of the flavor packed appetizers!

We hate to say that the entrees weren't to our liking, and its weird because we absolutely loved the appetizers and the Thai Ice Teas, but the food was definitely unexpectedly unsatisfying. Maybe we had high hopes because the appetizers were great!
Mela's Entree
My (Sade) Entree

We are in no way saying that the cooks at Banana Blossom aren't talented, or that their food is not appetizing. Where Banana Blossom goes wrong is their menu. The menu did not describe the entrees effectively enough. I (Sade) expected a platter of meat with a few sides, and Mela  expected her noodles to be spicy...(after all, the name of the entree is Spicy Crab Noodles). Neither of us finished our entrees, which is totally not so of foodies like us, who can always find the good in any meal!

The setting inside Banana Blossom is so romantic. Its perfect for couples and a fun 'girlfriends night out'. They have succeeded in creating a relaxed, comfortable and cool ambiance that most restaurants lack!

After dinner, we strolled around the Glenview area and snapped a view shots! We hope you love it!

Sorry for the pic quality

I made a little friend...random guy wanted to be in one of our pics! I told him he'd have to sign a consent form another time, because I'm posting the pic on my blog!

He said "oh my word ya puttin me on the world wide web"  Hehe! He was so cute!

get it Meme!

I CAN do ALL Things!

source: Alvin Ailey http://www.alvinailey.org/

There is something freeing about this picture. There is something definitive about her that inspires all the fibers in my body to leap! Her body language pours out passion, freedom, resiliency, strength, grace, and so much more.

As we strive to make limitless living our life mission, this picture is one that we can go to and draw from. Its an instant indication that we are what we see in her! Its a reminder to not allow the FEAR that "we can't, we won't, it's impossible" to hold us back from our goals. A friend once told me that it is impossible to get to your destination while looking in the rearview mirror. And it's true!

This picture is a constant reminder that our goals are ahead of us and accessible

What inspiration do you draw from her?

Who What Why...? What is Limitless all about?

We planned on opening a Subway. Or how about franchising a Redbox? We love coffee shops, so how about be we open a Cafe...Whoa, wait. HOW ABOUT we open a Laundrymat with free wifi and a small cafe inside? (Thinking, pondering, thinking) Whatever we do, it has got to be us.

Since the day chatted for hours in the Sierra College cafeteria, catching each other up on what we had missed from childhood until present (because WE WERE GOING TO BE BEST FRIENDS), we knew this bond would produce something great...

We would sit for such long periods of time, discussing what we DIDNT want to do, and how we knew we were meant for something far more atypical then what is expected of us. Go to college. Get a good job! Get married! And we should, shouldn't we? That’s what most people do, right? But the entrepreneurial spirits in us continued to break away from the norms over and over again.

We learned that we are creators. It seemed that everywhere we turned we were pushing to get out of the box, to live LIMITLESS!

"I just want to be free!" became our favorite slogan! And what a risk "being free" has been. Quitting corporate jobs, relocating, going natural (google "natural hair journey"), starting a business, and of all fighting to live the life we want instead of what’s expected of us. We weren't sure how, what, or when, but we had faith in our God-given purpose.

Limitless came about as we were sitting at the Emeryville Marina, discussing why our last blog was unsuccessful. It didn’t take us much time to realize that it was much too narrow for people like us. Not colorful enough, no room to grow as we grow, and definitely not widespread enough to hold our many many passions. Our new slogan became, “I just want to be LIMITLESS”…

And so we made that our lives mission.

Limitless is about doing what you love, instead of what is expected of you. It’s about experiencing new things, and opening oneself up to new and different possibilities. Its about not allowing FEAR to hold you from becoming the person God meant for you to be…HE did say that He didn’t give us the spirit of fear, right? (2 Timothy 1:7). We plan to share our journey of limitless living with you all, as we continue grow, strive for what we want and create lovely things. In the process we hope to inspire you to press. And most importantly, for those of you who are allowing fear to be your diversion, it is our prayer that this blog will aid you to spread your wings and FLY~
